NHRSTA Minutes
October 1, 2008
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman Hureau at 6:15 p.m. It was held at the Red Blazer in Concord and attended by 53 people including 37 members.
Ernest Loomis led the Pledge of Allegiance. A moment of silence was observed for our departed members.
Chairman Hureau announced that the Executive Board had elected him as Chairman, Sheldon Sullivan as 1st Vice Chairman and Peter Hilchey as 2nd Vice Chairman. He also announced that the Legislative Committee would consist of Peter Hilchey and Ernest Loomis. Sheldon Sullivan was assigned as a member of the Membership Committee along with Richard Campbell.
The Treasurer gave the Treasurer's Report which consisted of:

A motion was made and seconded to accept the report and the motion passed.

Kate McGovern of Kate McGovern Associates, LLC spoke about her proposal to update our "Users Guide for the NH Retirement System". The cost of the update is $1,600. The Executive Board will contact other interested agencies regarding the cost, number of books needed and distribution. Laura Hainey, AFT-NH President spoke about the need for our organization to be involved and take an active part in the NH Retirement Security Coalition activities as it pertains in retirement legislation, the ongoing hearings regarding COLAs and the "medical subsidy". She also stressed the need for members of our organization to offer testimony at the hearings as well as insuring that our elected representatives will support our needs as retirees.

Retired before January 1, 1993 - receive $500
Retired, for at least 12 months, with minimum of 15 years and receiving $20,000 or less a year as of last anniversary date - receive $1,000

Retired Administrative Services Commissioner Don Hill was introduced and offered his services to the association. On a motion of Jim Garvin and seconded by Joe Broderick the Executive Board was directed to meet with Comm. Hill and discuss the assistance he could offer to the association. The membership approved the motion.
